Always with a capital. For adults you don't know, at work, in shops and offices. The dative is Ihnen.

The reflexive pronoun for er, sie, es, sie and Sie.

Endings like ein: mein Bruder, meine Schwester, mein Kind, meine Eltern.

Die Kinder spielen draußen.The children are playing outside.الأطفال يلعبون في الخارج.

Every noun has a gender: der (masculine), die (feminine), das (neuter). Plural is always die. Learn each noun with its article.

Ich habe einen Bruder und eine Schwester.I have a brother and a sister.عندي أخ وأخت.

In use

Das ist ein schönes Haus.That's a beautiful house.هذا بيت جميل.

Ein Kaffee, bitte.A coffee, please.قهوة من فضلك.

ein for masculine and neuter, eine for feminine. There is no plural: Kinder.

Ich habe keine Zeit.I have no time.ليس عندي وقت.

In use

Das ist kein Problem.That's no problem.هذه ليست مشكلة.

Wir haben keine Kinder.We don't have any children.ليس عندنا أطفال.

kein negates a noun; nicht negates the rest. It takes the endings of ein.

Ich verstehe das nicht.I don't understand that.لا أفهم ذلك.

In use

Das ist nicht mein Handy.That's not my phone.هذا ليس هاتفي.

Er kommt heute nicht.He's not coming today.لن يأتي اليوم.

Usually near the end of the sentence. With nouns use kein.

Ich habe heute nichts gegessen.I haven't eaten anything today.لم آكل شيئًا اليوم.

In use

Das macht nichts.Never mind.لا بأس.

Danke! – Nichts zu danken.Thanks! – Don't mention it.شكرًا! – لا شكر على واجب.

Möchtest du etwas trinken?Would you like something to drink?هل تريد أن تشرب شيئًا؟

alles = everything; alle = everyone, all (plural).

Ich trinke jeden Morgen Kaffee.I drink coffee every morning.أشرب القهوة كل صباح.

In use

Jedes Kind bekommt ein Geschenk.Every child gets a present.كل طفل يحصل على هدية.

Der Bus kommt jede halbe Stunde.The bus comes every half hour.الحافلة تأتي كل نصف ساعة.

Endings like der: jeder, jede, jedes. Singular only.
